El Otoño es una de las estaciones más interesantes que una puede disfrutar en estas altitudes de Europa. Los árboles se visten con sus mejore galas, las hojas de inundan de los colores más vivos, de los rojos más intensos, de los amarillos más brillantes, de los verdes más luminosos .. ..

Autumn is one of the most interesting seasons of the year that we can enjoy in this part of Europe. Trees have the leaves with the most intensive, most shine, most amazing colors .. ..

Amparanoia

Ayer estuve en el último concierto de la gira que Amparanoia está haciendo en Holanda.
Yesterday I was in the last concert that Amparanoia was doing in The Netherlands.

Cuando descubres algo que sabes que probablemente no podrás disfrutar nunca más, ese algo se convierte en un momento, en un evento, en un recuerdo muy especial, de un valor incalculable. Nunca antes había escuchado una sola canción de Amparanoia .. .. con cierta influencia de Manu Chao, esta mujer del sur de España canta a los 4 vientos, desde el corazón, todas y cada una de las penas y alegrías del alma, del ser humano ... ... confrontando los problemas que afectan a millones de personas, eso sí, con ritmo, con sonrisa, con alegría y mucha mucha energía.
Pero no se podrá repetir .. .. porque Amparanoia se disuelve, desaparece de la escena musical .. .. pero no de la retina, de la memoria de los que pudimos disfrutar de sus letras, de sus ritmos, de su alegría .. ..
Por eso este concierto, tiene un sabor especial .. ..

When you discover something that probably you are not going to be able to enjoy any more, this thing turns into a special moment, special memory .. into an invaluable thing. I had not heard any song of Amparanoia before .. .. with some influence from Manu Chao, this woman from the south of Spain signs from her heart, all the sadness and happiness that surrounds our souls .. .. and she does it with rhythm, with smiles, with happiness, and a lot of energy.
But we cannot enjoy it again .. .. because this was the last concert of Amparanoia, Amparanoia disappears from the musical scene .. .. but not from our memory, the ones that could enjoy their lyrics, their rhythm, their happiness .. ..

Obsession with Coconut Palms

No puedo negarlo .. .. durante toda mi estancia en Maui hacer fotos a los Cocoteros de la isla de Maui se volvió casi una obsesión. En cualquier circunstancia, bajo cualquier luz, en cualquier momento del día sus estilizadas siluetas eran perfectas dianas para la cámara.
During all the time that I was in Maui, taking pictures of Coconut Palms was almost an obsesion. In any moment, wherever, whenever, always they were perfect targets for the camera.










Probablemente porque después de vivir más de un año y medio en Utrecht, estas palmeras son, más que nunca, una clara asociación con conceptos como calor, sol, paraíso, descanso, vacaciones, .. ..
Probably because after living more than one year and a half in Utrecht, these palms are, more than never, a clear association with concepts like warm, sun, paradise, rest, holidays ...

Encounters at the End of the World

Yo también quiero estar ahí. Por qué hay tanto que ver en tan poco tiempo? Una vida no es suficiente para descubrir todos los rincones de este mundo.
I want to be there, as well. Why do we have so few time to see a lot of things? One life is not enough time to discover all the things that Earth planet has to offer us.

Haleakala

Una de las visitas obligadas en la isla de Maui es el Parque Nacional de Haleakala. Haleakala en hawaiano significa "la casa del sol" y corresponde a la zona del cráter del volcán que conforma casi el 75% de la isla de Maui.
Haleakala is the name of the volcano's crater of Maui island. And it is also a National Park. Haleakala means "sun's house".

La cima del cráter está a más de 3000m de altura, asi que estabamos por encima de las nubes que frecuentemente coronan el punto más alto de la isla. Es imposible permanecer ajeno al paisaje .. .. sin haber estado nunca en la superficie de la Luna o de Marte, una no podia imaginar estar en la superficie de uno de estos dos cuerpos celestes.
The top of the crater is more than 3000m above the sea level .. clouds were always under our feet. The landscape was amazing .. and despite I haven't ever been there it remains me the surface of the Moon or Mart.
Una de las mejores experiencias que uno puede disfrutar en la isla de Maui es la vista de la salida del sol desde lo alto del cráter. Estábamos de vacaciones y un poco perezosas, así que levantarnos a las 3:00 de la mañana no era una opción. A cambio nos quedamos a ver la puesta de sol .. .. a pesar del frío -no nos habíamos llevado ropa de invierno a Hawai- el espectáculo fue impresionante.
One of the best experience that you can enjoy in Maui is the sunrise from de Volcano. We were on holidays, so wake up before 3:00 am was not an option .. In contrast we stay until the sunset and despite the cold -we were not wearing winter dress- the shown was awesome.

Postcards from Hawaii

Esta semana iré colgando las fotos de Hawaii. Concretamente de la isla de Maui donde pasé 7 días con Pili, Reini y Elizabeth .. .. 7 días en los que todos mis sentidos se saturaron con colores, olores y sensaciones paradisíacas .. .. 7 días en los que pude disfrutar de sabores, de emociones que estaban aletargados en mi después de un año y medio viviendo en Utrecht.

This week I upload some pictures that I took in my trip to Hawaii, more precisely in Maui. I was there together with Pili, Reini and Elizabeth .. .. We spent 7 days enjoying flavors, colors, feelings, emotions that you can only experience when you are close to paradise .. ..

Estas son fotos que tomé el primer día .. .. nuestro apartamento estaba orientado al océano Las dos primeras son del primer amanecer, a las 6:00 de la mañana. Nuestro apartamento estaba orientado al oeste, así que esta es la puesta de sol (tercera foto) cerca de las 6:20 de la tarde, el cual pudimos disfrutar desde nuestra terraza ..





These are pictures that I took the first day .. .. the first two are from the sunrise .. .. at 6:00. Our apartment was orientated to the west, so we could enjoy the sunset (third picture) .. .. in front of us, while we were seated in our terrace, around 18:15.

Stuttgart

El pasado fin de semana estuve en Stuttgart con Mónica, Clarisa, Ana y Esteban para visitar el Volksfest que allí se celebra. Por que fuimos a Stuttgart y no a Munich, donde se celebra durante las mismas fechas el Oktoberfest? Principalmente porque Stuttgart está más cerca de Utrecht y el festival es menos turístico y más barato.
Como era de esperar bebimos cerveza.

Last weekend I was in Stuttgart with Monica, Ana, Clarisa and Esteban to enjoy the Volksfest. We decided to go to Stuttgart and not Munich -where they celebrate the Oktoberfest- because Stuttgart is closer and cheaper than Munich. Of course, we drank beer.

Los números del fin de semana hablan por si solos:
-4 españolas y un colombiano/ 4 Spanish girls and 1 Colombian guy
-54 h
-1168 Km
-más de 15h en la carretera/ more than 15h on the road
-más de 11h en la misma mesa (pero sin estar sentados todo el rato)/ more than 11h en the same table (but not seated all the time)
-30L de cerveza pedidos/ 30L of beer ordered
-1 gallina de regalo/ 1 chiken as a present

Y un montón de anécdotas, de risas, de bailes, de caídas -con los consiguientes moratones- y un montón de diversión!
And a lot of anecdotes, of laughs, of dances, of falls down .. and fun .. a lot of fun!

Who wants to dance with Matt?

A veces estoy tan centrada en mi mundo, tan preocupada con mis problemas, tan limitada por mi micro universo que se me olvida que hay lugares en el mundo, rincones mágicos en este planeta que no conozco .. ..se me olvida disfrutar de las pequeñas cosas como reír, cantar o bailar ..
Yo quiero .. .. yo quiero bailar con Matt y con todos en todos y cada uno de los rincones de este mundo. Podría empezar en Utrecht y seguir en Barcelona y después .. .. después un montón de opciones más, una variedad infinita de destinos .. .. quien quiere bailar con Matt y conmigo?

Sometimes I 'm so focus in my life, so worry about my problems, so limited by my micro universe that I forget that there are places in the world, magic spots in this planet where I have not been .. .. I forget to enjoy simple things of life like laughing, singing or dancing .. ..
I want .. .. I want to dance with Matt and with everybody .. .. in all the places around the world. I can star dancing in Utrecht, and then in Barcelona, and then .. .. a big variety of options, a lot of different destinations .. .. who wants to dance with Matt and me?

Hubrecht Meeting

No os estaba engañando .. .. en unas horas tengo la charla para todo el instituto. Así que prometido .. .. este finde colgare las fotos de Hawaii.

I was not lying .. .. in few hours I'll have to talk in front of all my Institute.
Then I'll have time to work in the pictures of Hawaii .. .. I'll upload them this weekend.

Ayer disfrute de un espectáculo difícil de describir .. .. con una puesta en escena minimalista pero con una fuerza vital increíble. Fue un espectáculo de Australian Dance Theatre, mi primera experiencia directa con la danza contemporánea y me gusto .. .. los cuerpos de los bailarines y bailarinas se movían con una fuerza, con un ritmo reflejo de los sentimientos presentes en nuestra vida .. .. amor, dolor, furia, alegría, tristeza, deseo .. ..

Yesterday I could enjoy a very special show .. .. difficult to describe. It was my first experience with contemporaneous dance and I liked it. The movements of the dancers were a reflection of the feelings that we feel during all our live .. .. love, pain, fury, happiness, desire .. ..

Kinderdijk

El pasado domingo, aprovechando una pausa meteorológica, fui con Terhi, una postdoc finlandesa que trabaja en el mismo instituto que yo, a Kinderdijk donde se encuentra la mayor concentración de molinos de viento de Holanda y declarada patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco.

Last Sunday, tacking advantage of the weather, I went together with Terhi, a Finnish postdoc from my Institute, to Kinderdijk, where you can find the most important collection of windmills in The Netherlands.

Kinderdijk esta situado a unos 15 km al este de Rotterdam. Cogimos el tren en Utrecht para llegar a Rotterdam, una vez alli fuimos en bici durante unas 3h recorriendo los alrededores de la ciudad y bordeando la autopista A16 .. los ultimos metros los hicimos cogiendo un ferry .. por poco experimentamos un triatlon.

Kinderdijk is a village about 15km east of Rotterdam. We took the train in Utrecht to arrive to Rotterdam and then we bike for 3 hours .. .. the last meters to arrive to Kinderdijk we did it by fast ferry .. .. almost a triathlon experience.


La verdad es que el paisaje es idílico. Fascinada por los reflejos, descubrir los relieves de los molinos en los canales era una escusa perfecta para disparar la cámara. Estuvimos allí en las horas centrales del día, pero no me queda ninguna duda que el amanecer y el atardecer deben ser momentos especiales, sino mágicos, en este rincón de Holanda.

The landscape is amazing. I was fascinated with the reflections of the windmills in the water .. .. I could not repress myself shooting the camera. We were there during the day .. .. but I'm convince that sunset and sunrise must be special and magic events that you can experience in this spot of Holland.
